Ratio cards are the usual suspects: 50:1 = modern stock two-strokes, 32:1 = older or modified engines, 16–20:1 = race engines that live on the pipe. When in doubt between two ratios, run the RICHER mix (more oil). Always mix in a separate can — never rely on pouring oil into the bike tank.
Good to know
- Ratios are by volume: 32:1 is 32 litres of fuel to 1 litre of oil, or 31.25 ml of oil per litre of fuel.
- Common ratios: 50:1 modern stock two-strokes · 40:1 older road bikes · 32:1 modified or high-revving engines · 16–20:1 race engines on the pipe.
- When between two ratios, run the richer mix (more oil). A slightly oil-rich engine smokes and fouls plugs; a lean-mix engine seizes.
- Mix in a separate can, shake, then pour — never dose oil straight into the vehicle tank and hope the sloshing blends it.
